'Is This Love'
Can I say that while I was more than happy for Matt Cardle to take the X Factor title from contrived, intolerably dull Rebecca Ferguson, for me the real winner of X Factor 2010 should have been Aiden Grimshaw. His audition featured his take on Kanye West, and as the weeks progressed I couldn't get enough of his slightly alternative, off renditions of songs. I awaited his tics, his serial killer stare and his general awkwardness each week, and would then proceed to be blown away by his unique rendition of that week's song. Needless to say I was heartbroken when he was elimated in favour of Katie bloody Waissel, but now HE'S BACK.
This song if pretty good, I must say. It has a slight Chase and Status vibe but still keeping an alternative, emotional edge. It's certainly different to most stuff in the charts at the minute and while that unfortunately means it will probably go nowhere, this is a bloody solid debut single that is well thought out, suits him perfectly and yet still offers some surprises.
