Upcoming Release - Katy Perry

Teenage Dream - The Complete Confection

Let me start by saying that title is amazing. Because she's lying in candyfloss! Get it?

Over the last few months I have been verging on becoming a Katy Perry 'stan' (the word for obsessive superfan for those who don't know, think the Eminem song of the same title). 'California Girls' left me cold, 'Teenage Dream' brought me back into the fold. 'E.T' was a masterpiece and 'The One That Got Away' has become my ultimate singalong choice (rubbish B.O.B remix notwithstanding). Her simple, irresistible melodies have me hooked, and while its all obviously a bit of throwaway fluff (or 'microwave popcorn' as Linda Perry described it) I have no problem with a pop artist doing what pop artists are supposed to do - making hit records.

I love that each of her videos from this era have been that little bit special, with the Floria Sigismondi directed 'E.T' or Rebecca Black featuring 'Last Friday Night (TGIF)' feeling more effortless and original than any overblown pretentious nonsense released by Gaga this year.

This rerelease of the neverending album era 'Teenage Dream' will more than likely include the remixes of her singles, featuring artists such as Kanye West and Missy Elliot, and hopefully they'll include the gorgeous and emotive acoustic version of 'The One That Got Away'.

Of course, its likely that this is the last ditch attempt by her record company to finally break THAT RECORD. Currently, Katy is tied with Michael Jackson for the most number ones from a single album. Her last single has stalled at 3 thus far, and so a new package and new song might be the answer. Producer Tricky Stewart has hinted that he has been brought in to spruce up a few old tracks that didn't make the cut first time aroumd, including 'Dressin Up'.

If this is the case, and the rerelease WILL contain new songs, I have one request. 'Part of Me' please! This unreleased gem is in my opinion better than 75% of Teenage Dream, and the only reason I can think of for it being left off first time is that it is soon to be unleashed as a chart demolishing smash.

MAKE IT HAPPEN PEOPLE
